Beautiful Lawn Maintenance Tips Part I

bgIt’s easy to spot a healthy lawn isn’t it? The blades of grass are thick and green almost like carpet. You can clearly see some stripes from a recent mowing stretching across the lush landscape. A good looking lawn is a beautiful thing. So why is it so hard to achieve? Truth be told, it isn’t. Having that beautiful lawn is easier than you think and only takes a couple steps to get you started. Here are a few quick, basic tips to remember when taking care of your lawn:

Basics

Remember the basics, your grass needs sunlight, plenty of water and the right soil and fertilizer to be its best. Giving your grass all of the “essentials” will help it take off in the right direction before you even lay out a gameplan.

Soil

Soil matters, so planning is key. Clean out all weeds that might sprout up and fight for the same resources that your lawn will need. Test the pH of your soil by grabbing a DIY kit from a local nursery for a better idea of what to do with your fertilizer.

Mowing Setting

Simply put, mow high. Mowing your grass too short will prevent it from growing to it’s full length and having roots that develop underground. Don’t fall for the common misconception that mowing shorter means you have to mow less.
